At Thu Duc intersection, people strictly obey traffic lights and drive in the correct lane. The phenomenon of climbing on the sidewalk no longer occurs. At the intersection of Vo Van Ngan - Road No. 6 (Linh Chieu ward), despite the crowdedness, people still do not climb on the sidewalk to avoid traffic jams.

Mr. Vo Tan Tai (residing in Thu Duc City) shared: "Since the fine increased, people's traffic awareness has improved a lot. Previously, motorbikes often climbed the sidewalk from Vo Van Ngan Street to Street No. 6, but now the sidewalk is kept safe for pedestrians, I feel more secure."

At the To Ngoc Van - Pham Van Dong intersection, the traffic situation is similar.

In the center of Ho Chi Minh City, at the Hang Xanh intersection – a tense traffic intersection – the traffic situation has also improved. Vehicles drive in the right lane, do not crowd or climb on the sidewalk even though they have to wait for the red light in the middle of the hot noon sun.

Ms. Thu Hang, a resident of the area, commented: "Since Decree 168 took effect, people have been complying better. Even though waiting at red lights takes longer, traffic is more orderly, no longer chaotic or jammed."

Traffic on routes such as Ly Chinh Thang, Vo Thi Sau, Nguyen Thong (District 3); Ngo Gia Tu, An Duong Vuong (District 5); Nguyen Tri Phuong, Ba Thang Hai (District 10) also recorded changes. Road users obeyed the law, did not drive on the sidewalk, and stopped at red lights in the right places.

Mr. Ly Minh Chien (living in District 3) commented: "Decree 168 has a strong impact, making many people understand and comply with the law. This not only avoids being fined but also demonstrates civilization." Mr. Chien believes that high but reasonable fines help protect personal and community safety.

Many people are also proactive in promoting traffic safety, especially among young people. Ms. Tran Ngoc My (living in District 10) said that she always reminds her children to wear helmets and obey the law whether they are going to school or going out. According to her, her biggest concern is safety, not the fine.

Accidents reduced

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Loi, Deputy Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, since Decree 168 took effect, the penalty for violations such as not obeying traffic lights or driving on sidewalks has increased. The authorities have also stepped up inspections and strictly punished violations, helping to significantly reduce traffic insecurity and accidents.

Colonel Nguyen Dinh Duong, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police, informed that after applying Decree 168, traffic accidents in the city decreased by 24% compared to the same period in 2024, while traffic violations also decreased significantly, contributing to significantly improving urban traffic order and safety.
