Information from the Vietnam Volleyball Federation this morning (August 31) said that the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) sent a letter confirming that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team officially won a ticket to participate in the FIVB Women Championship 2025 taking place in Thailand from August 22 to September 7.
A day earlier, Thailand was announced as the host of the FIVB Women's Championship 2025. This means they will participate in the tournament as the host and Asia will be given an additional representative. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team ranked 4th in the 2023 Asian Championship was selected, along with China, Japan and host Thailand, making up the 4 Asian teams participating in the FIVB Women's Championship 2025.
Vietnam women's volleyball team wins ticket to World Cup for first time
Previously, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation received notice from FIVB that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is likely to participate in the 2025 World Championship. FIBV requested Vietnam to submit an application to participate in the tournament and we have completed the registration procedures.
This is the first time in history that the Vietnamese women's volleyball team has qualified for the World Volleyball Championship. The tournament has 32 teams, of which the first 16 slots include the defending champion (Serbia) and 15 teams with high rankings in continental championships (3 leading teams from each continent). The remaining 16 slots will include 1 slot for the host team and 15 teams with high rankings in the world rankings but have not yet had slots.
The 32 teams that will participate in the FIVB Women's Championship 2025 include Serbia, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Kenya, Egypt, Cameroon, Thailand, China, Japan, Turkey, Netherlands, Italy, Dominican Republic, USA, Canada, Poland, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Puerto Rico, France, Cuba, Bulgaria, Sweden, Mexico, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Greece and Vietnam.
At 7:30 p.m. today in Ninh Binh, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will compete in the final of the VTV Cup 2024 international women's volleyball tournament, facing Korabelka Club from Russia. After this tournament, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team have no plans to compete until the end of 2024. However, with the ticket to the World Cup, the Vietnamese volleyball team is expected to gather early to prepare carefully.
