Poverty reduction in Dong Xuan

Over the years, the Party Committee and the government of Dong Xuan commune, Thanh Ba district have always paid attention to helping people raise awareness, access and apply scientific and technological advances in production, transform crop and livestock structures... gradually improve their lives, escape poverty in a sustainable way, actively build new rural areas, and contribute to local socio-economic development.

From preferential credit loans from the Thanh Ba District Social Policy Bank, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong in Zone 8, Dong Xuan Commune invested in tea planting and livestock raising, rising out of poverty.

The Commune Party Committee has developed a thematic resolution with specific targets and solutions, close to the local situation, to develop the economy in association with sustainable poverty reduction. In particular, the commune pays special attention to coordinating vocational training and job placement for rural workers, while effectively deploying capital sources, encouraging people to change crop structure, and applying scientific and technological advances to production...

The commune has coordinated with units to open vocational training classes, provide training in cultivation and livestock raising techniques for people, creating new jobs for hundreds of workers; assigning associations and organizations such as farmers, women, youth unions, and veterans to promote technology transfer, bring new plants and breeds with high productivity and quality into production; accept entrustment, bring preferential credit capital to people for the right purpose, right subjects, bringing practical results; encourage and create conditions for people, cooperatives, and cooperatives to implement linkage models in investment, production, and consumption of agricultural products, and build OCOP products.

The emulation movements to develop production, business, unite to help each other get rich, reduce poverty sustainably have been actively responded to and participated by organizations, members and people, creating jobs on the spot for local workers. Thanks to that, more and more production models for high income in a sustainable direction have appeared, replicated and spread the models, typically the models: Raising buffaloes and cows for fattening of Mr. Khuat Van Hung; raising free-range chickens of Mr. Truong Thanh Son, Pham Van Hung in zone 8; mechanical processing workshop of Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan in zone 6; integrated farm of Mr. Nguyen Van Chien in zone 5; export garment of Mrs. Ha Thi Thu's household in zone 6... or Dong Xuan green tea cooperative with 20 members maintaining effective production and business and being certified as 3-star OCOP products, processing output of 120 tons/year.

Comrade Nguyen Trung Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said: "In the past time, implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction, the commune has mobilized maximum social resources, prioritized capital support, production investment, paid attention to helping poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households apply scientific and technical advances into production, thereby creating motivation to rise up to escape poverty sustainably. At the same time, continue to effectively implement the poverty reduction sub-project on information, focus on training to improve the capacity of the staff working in grassroots communication; carry out emulation movements to reduce poverty, encourage the will to overcome difficulties, rise up to escape poverty and become rich legitimately of the people".

Thanks to the synchronous implementation of many solutions in poverty reduction work, up to now, the appearance of Dong Xuan new rural commune has changed significantly; people's lives have been improved, the number of well-off households has increased; many good and excellent economic development models have emerged, making an important contribution to local socio-economic development. According to the preliminary review results in 2024, Dong Xuan commune still has 38 poor households, accounting for 2.66% of the total number of households in the commune, down 0.9% compared to 2023; there are 22 near-poor households, accounting for 1.54%.
