On the morning of May 26, a conference was held to evaluate the implementation results of the Regulation on working relations between the Government and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

At the conference, reports and opinions unanimously assessed and implemented the Regulations on the working relationship between the Government and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.

Accordingly, in 2023, the Government and the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor actively and proactively implemented coordination work, ensuring the effectiveness of tasks according to the Coordination Regulations, and sudden and arising tasks under the leadership and direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat and practical requirements.

In particular, continue to coordinate research to develop mechanisms, policies and laws on social security and welfare for workers, improve workers' lives; promptly resolve the needs, aspirations and legitimate and legal rights of workers;

Building a team of trade union officials to meet the requirements of the task, building a strong Vietnamese Trade Union, a modern and powerful working class and a Government of "Discipline, responsibility, proactiveness, timely, accelerated creativity, sustainable efficiency".

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed 12 contents to the Government, ministries, branches and localities and received discussions and answers from ministries and branches.

Including contents on: Paying attention to the rights and interests of workers and trade union activities when developing legal policies and guidelines; inspecting, examining and strictly handling enterprises that violate laws on labor, trade unions, social insurance, occupational safety and hygiene; proposing to reduce normal working hours for workers to less than 48 hours/week, etc.

Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized the requirement to speak the truth, act honestly, without formality or embellishment; "what is said must be done, what is committed must be carried out" and to have inspection and evaluation, so that the coordination between the two sides becomes increasingly close and effective, contributing to bringing legitimate benefits to workers.

Regarding the results of coordination between the Government and the General Confederation of Labour in 2023 and the first months of 2024, the Prime Minister assessed that the two sides have actively and proactively coordinated to comprehensively and effectively implement tasks according to the Work Coordination Regulations, including both regular and unexpected tasks.

The coordination contents are implemented closely, comprehensively, effectively, practically, focusing on specific contents to solve the problems of housing for workers, cultural, medical, educational, sports institutions, activities to care for and improve the spiritual life and health of workers according to the Party's policies and the State's laws.

The General Confederation has promoted its role in participating in the development and implementation of management mechanisms, policies and strategies directly related to employment and wages; proactively grasping the implementation of policies and regimes related to the rights and interests of workers.

Participate in formulating policies and laws such as Housing Law, Social Insurance Law, Land Law, Employment Law, Vocational Education Law, Labor Safety and Hygiene Law, etc.

According to the Prime Minister, 2024 is a breakthrough year to successfully complete the socio-economic development goals for 2024 and the 5-year Plan 2021 - 2025.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Party and State always pay attention to building a modern and strong working class and a strong trade union organization, considering it a prerequisite to ensure the success of the country's innovation, industrialization, modernization and international integration.

Orienting the coordination of work in the coming time, basically agreeing with the report of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Government Office and the speeches of the delegates, the Prime Minister emphasized some additional contents including 1 central task, 3 concerns, 5 promotion.

Also at the meeting, the Prime Minister gave his opinion on 12 proposals and recommendations of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, assigning specific tasks to agencies for consideration and resolution according to their functions, duties and powers.

In particular, with the proposal to soon implement the content of Resolution No. 101 on reducing working hours, the Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to study the policy of reducing working hours for employees in the process of consulting on amending and supplementing the Labor Code; this must be suitable to the situation in Vietnam, at the same time as implementing solutions to improve labor productivity.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Training pay attention to practical issues and propose solutions to create stable living conditions for female migrant workers .
