The Kate Festival of the Cham people is a unique and very important sacred folk festival. The festival is held to commemorate the deceased and national heroes (who are honored as gods by the Cham people). It is usually held on July 1st according to the Cham calendar (around September 25th to October 25th). With its great historical and cultural value, the Kate Festival in Ninh Thuan was officially recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017.
