Specifically, in February 2023, Lo Thi P (born in 2007, residing in It Luong village, Nam So commune, Tan Uyen district) went to work in Lao Cai city because her job was unstable, so she went online to find job information. Seeing that P wanted to find a job with a good income, a stranger on social media promised to help her find a job with a salary of tens of millions of VND/month in Myanmar. This person guided and supported P to cross the border and find a way to get to work.

After arriving in Myanmar, P had all his documents confiscated by the manager and was forced to work without pay. When P attempted to escape, he was stopped and beaten by the manager. Unable to bear the torture and hardship, P sought to inform his family and the authorities for rescue.

In June 2024, the Criminal Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police received a report from Ms. Lo Thi L (P's sister) about her sister being tricked and sold to Myanmar by some people. After receiving the report, the Criminal Police Department coordinated with functional units to find a way to connect and instruct P on skills to escape the control of the management. On July 5, 2024, police officers and soldiers coordinated to successfully rescue her and P returned to Vietnam safely.

The case is being investigated by the Criminal Police Department of Lai Chau Provincial Police, continuing to verify and clarify the related subjects.

The above rescue is a concrete activity to realize the plan to attack and suppress human trafficking crimes in 2024 of Lai Chau Provincial Police, practically responding to the National Day to Prevent and Combat Human Trafficking (July 30).

Through the incident, the authorities recommend that people should be vigilant and not believe in unofficial information on social networks such as easy jobs with high salaries, improving skills abroad, etc. When there is a need to work abroad, people need to carefully research the job and contact legal job placement organizations. If they discover a suspicious situation, they need to quickly report it to the hotline of the nearest authorities for support and resolution.
