Domestic gold prices fluctuate strongly

Domestic gold price in the early morning of April 3 increased by nearly 103 million VND/tael, then was adjusted down.

At 10:00 a.m. on April 3, Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) reduced the price of gold bars by VND400,000 per tael compared to early morning, down to VND99.7 - 102.4 million. Plain gold rings were also adjusted down accordingly, down to VND99.5 - 102.2 million. Other brands currently maintain the same price compared to early morning, nearly VND103 million per tael of plain rings.

Previously, within an hour after opening, SJC adjusted its listed price list three times. At 9:00 a.m., the price of gold bars at SJC was raised to 100.1 - 102.8 million VND, 1 million VND higher per tael than yesterday, April 2. Other major brands also raised their gold bar prices accordingly this morning.

At the same time, the price of plain gold rings was also raised by SJC by 1 million VND in both buying and selling directions, to 99.9 - 102.5 million. Gold rings at Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company (PNJ) increased to 99.8 - 102.5 million VND. Meanwhile, at Bao Tin Minh Chau, the price of this item increased to 100 - 102.9 million VND. The difference in buying and selling prices of plain rings is still high, around 2.5 - 3 million VND per tael.

Domestic gold prices increased following the precious metal's developments in the international market. After US President Donald Trump imposed reciprocal tariffs on dozens of economies, world gold prices increased sharply and set a record of 3,169 USD per ounce.

At 9:00 a.m. Vietnam time, the world gold price was around 3,153 USD per ounce, converted according to Vietcombank's selling rate, equivalent to 98.6 million VND per tael. The difference between domestic and world gold prices is over 4 million VND per tael.

In the foreign exchange market, the price of USD in banks this morning also increased sharply and reached an all-time high. Banks even raised the selling price of USD to the same level as the price of USD on the black market.

Vietcombank listed the exchange rate at 25,540 - 25,930 VND per USD. At BIDV, the USD price increased to 25,600 - 25,960 VND. Eximbank raised the USD buying and selling price to 25,570 - 25,980 VND. On the black market, foreign exchange points are currently trading USD at 25,840 - 25,910 VND.
