Similarly, the price of 9999 gold today is listed by DOJI and PNJ at 84.6 million VND/tael for buying - 86.6 million VND/tael for selling, an increase of 200,000 VND/tael in both buying and selling compared to yesterday's transaction. The difference between the buying price and selling price is 2.0 million VND.
SJC gold price at Bao Tin Minh Chau and Bao Tin Manh Hai Co., Ltd. was also traded by businesses at 84.6-86.6 million VND/tael (buying - selling), an increase of 200,000 VND/tael in both buying and selling directions compared to yesterday.

World gold price today January 16, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4:30 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was 2,694.76 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 0.68% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (25,624 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 83.2 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 3.4 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Gold prices continued to rise as the dollar fell after lower-than-expected US core inflation data eased inflationary pressures and raised expectations that the Federal Reserve's easing cycle may not be over yet.
Excluding the volatile food and energy components, the core CPI rose 3.2% year-over-year in July, compared with an expected increase of 3.3%, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said Wednesday.
"Core CPI came in slightly lower than expected, which is a positive for gold... The implication is that the Fed will not necessarily rule out a rate cut. The probability of a rate cut in January is zero, but we are pricing in some rate cuts later this year," said Bart Melek, head of commodity strategy at TD Securities.
Markets now expect the Fed to cut interest rates by 40 basis points (bps) by year-end, compared with around 31 bps before the inflation data. The dollar index (.DXY) fell 0.1%, making bullion more attractive to holders of other currencies. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note also fell.
Investors are concerned that the prospect of tariffs after Donald Trump returns to the White House next week could fuel inflation and limit the Fed’s ability to cut interest rates further. Non-yielding bullion is seen as a hedge against inflation, although higher interest rates reduce its appeal.
However, the uncertainty surrounding Trump's tariffs and trade policies on the global economy and their potential impact on growth is likely to maintain safe-haven demand for gold, said Zain Vawda, market analyst at OANDA's MarketPulse.
Spot silver rose 2.6% to $30.66 an ounce, platinum rose 0.2% to $937.58 and palladium rose 2.6% to $962.98.
