In favorable weather conditions, Mr. Nguyen Van Truong in Loc Ha town (Loc Ha district) and 7 other fishermen will regularly go to sea 2-3 times a week, fishing about 25 nautical miles from shore, each trip lasting 2 days and nights. On a lucky trip, their 285 CV boat can catch 900 kg to 1 ton of various types of seafood, selling for about 18-20 million VND; after deducting expenses, each worker receives a salary of 1.4 million VND/trip, the boat owner receives double. In case of unfavorable weather, the output is lower and the income of each worker is about 1 million VND/trip.

Mr. Nguyen Van Truong (owner of HT 902378 TS) shared: “This year, the sea is calm, the fishing grounds are stable, and seafood prices are relatively high, so we fishermen are excited to go to sea. If the weather is favorable, we go to sea about 13-14 times a month, and about 10 times during the rainy and stormy season. The income from going to sea (about 14-18 million VND/person/month) is enough to cover the daily expenses of the family.”

Other coastal localities such as Thach Ha, Cam Xuyen, Ky Anh and Ky Anh town have focused on leading and directing the promotion of seafood exploitation activities. At the same time, all levels and sectors have focused on implementing the 2017 Fisheries Law, relevant decrees, circulars, instructions and instructions of the Provincial People's Committee on implementing solutions to prevent illegal IUU fishing. Fishermen also take advantage of the weather, fishing grounds, consumption markets and favorable factors to promote production activities, especially seafood species with high economic value such as: mackerel, pomfret, stingray, squid, shrimp, crab, etc.
In particular, this year, the structure of the fishing industry continues to shift strongly towards developing highly selective occupations that cause little harm to fishing grounds and can go offshore for long periods to exploit valuable species. Notable examples include: crab fishing on a fleet of vessels 12-20m long in Cam Loc (Cam Xuyen) with a productivity of 20-25 tons/vessel/year, revenue of 1.8-2 billion VND/vessel/year; squid fishing combined with offshore fishing on a fleet of vessels 15m or longer in Ky Ha commune (Ky Anh town) with a productivity of over 13 tons of products/year, revenue of 3-5 billion VND/year/vessel...
