Also in this special performance space, students were demonstrated ancient folk song suites by Mr. Ngan, and he corrected them on each word pronunciation, each beat, and each note.

To Uyen - a student from Nghia Duc commune, Nghia Dan district said: "I really like the song "Father and Son Love Deep" but I can't sing the melody correctly. Today at this communal house yard, the teacher corrected me every sentence and every note, helping me sing more smoothly."

Phan Phuong Chi from Lien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh has been attending Nguyen Thanh Ngan's class for a long time. Even though they live far away, every week Phuong Chi's parents take her to Vinh to learn folk songs with Mr. Ngan. Folk songs are not only a burning passion since childhood but also a way for her to connect with friends everywhere.

Attending the field trip in the communal house yard, Phuong Chi said: "I feel extremely proud to sing folk songs from Nghe An. I hope that many rural areas will have folk song activities in an attractive performance space like the one we practiced today."

Before coming to the class at Lien Tri communal house performance space, Lien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, Mr. Ngan's class recruited more than 30 students with talent for singing folk songs. The students came to his class with the desire to improve their techniques of singing folk songs, while some came to the class just because they wanted to learn to sing.

Students in Mr. Ngan's folk singing class come from the plains and even from Que Phong, Tuong Duong, and other districts in Ha Tinh province. Mr. Ngan has taught the students all the ancient folk melodies, as well as how to sing modern folk songs.

Each course only lasts about 1 month but the students can already grasp all the ancient melodies and famous songs developed from folk melodies. After 3 training courses, many students have made remarkable progress in understanding and singing folk melodies.

In particular, in this batch of students, Mr. Ngan has discovered many promising faces who will contribute to the province's traditional art stage in the future. Mr. Ngan said: "This time, about 10 faces were selected to enter Nghe An College of Culture and Arts, hopefully they will be singers of the Vi and Giam folk stage in the future."

At the folk song class of Hung Nguyen district cultural officer Nguyen Thanh Ngan, many children with difficult circumstances or special talents have their tuition fees exempted or reduced by him. Teaching folk songs in open performance spaces such as communal house yards, according to Nguyen Thanh Ngan, has great significance, helping the younger generation absorb folk songs well.

“When we bring the children to the communal house yard and teach them folk songs, we see that they are more aware of their roots, of the intangible heritage left by their ancestors, and more aware of their responsibility to promote and spread it.
