Experts say that in the short term, people have the mentality of stockpiling goods and waiting for prices to rise before bringing them to the market, causing the consumer market to somewhat stagnate.
Faced with rising prices, businesses and traders are increasing their stockpiling. However, they face many challenges such as high bank interest rates, limited storage space and seasonal cash flow pressures. In the context of increasing demand from the EU, the US and Asia, the pepper market outlook is still considered positive.
According to the General Department of Customs, Vietnam's pepper exports in the first 15 days of March reached 8,596 tons, worth 59.8 million USD, down 26.3% in volume and up 18.8% in value over the same period in 2024.

Accumulated from the beginning of 2025 to March 15, pepper exports reached 35,802 tons, worth 243.9 million USD, down 15.8% in volume but up 39.7% in value over the same period last year.
This year, Vietnam’s pepper output is forecast to decrease due to the impact of climate change. At the same time, income from other crops such as durian, coffee and avocado helps many households not to be under financial pressure, causing pepper sales to be small.
Regarding the market outlook in the coming time, experts say there will be big fluctuations. Although the new crop has been released to the market with increasing volume, the "hoarding" mentality of farmers this year is still very strong, leading to them limiting sales. High pepper prices make businesses and traders store less, so the possibility of price manipulation like in previous years will be difficult to happen. However, in the long term, the growth momentum still has bright prospects when consumption demand remains high and there are expectations that China will soon increase imports again.
