Forecasting pepper prices on May 26, 2024, the Chairman of the Vietnam Pepper and Spices Association (VPSA) commented that, with the current situation, global pepper output cannot meet consumer demand and is still on an upward trend in the next 3-5 years.

Previously, pepper prices on May 25, 2024, in the Central Highlands and Southeast regions increased by 1,000 VND/kg.
Accordingly, Dak Lak pepper price is purchased at 118,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday's price. Chu Se pepper price (Gia Lai) is currently at 118,000 VND/kg, an increase of 1,000 VND/kg compared to yesterday. Dak Nong pepper price today recorded an increase of 1,000 VND/kg, up to 119,000 VND/kg.
In the Southeast region, pepper prices today also increased by 1,000 VND/kg. Accordingly, in the Ba Ria - Vung Tau region, it reached a peak of 119,000 VND/kg and in the Binh Phuoc region, it reached 118,000 VND/kg.
Thus, pepper prices continued to increase today, especially pepper growing areas in Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Dak Nong reached a new high of 119,000 VND/kg. This is the 4th consecutive day of increase in the domestic market, bringing domestic pepper prices close to the 120,000 VND/kg mark.

The harvest ended with low output, while demand remained high, supporting pepper prices to continue rising.
Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Community (IPC), early this morning (Vietnam time), Indonesian pepper prices increased slightly compared to yesterday; Brazilian pepper prices remained unchanged compared to yesterday, while Malaysian prices continued to stagnate. Vietnamese pepper prices remained unchanged after a strong increase.
Specifically, the price of black pepper Lampung (Indonesia) today is still trading at 5,000 USD/ton, the price of white pepper (Indonesia) is trading at 7,179 USD/ton.
Brazilian black pepper price ASTA 570 today is at 5,000 USD/ton.
Malaysian ASTA black pepper price remains at USD 4,900/ton; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price remains at USD 7,300/ton.
The listed prices of Vietnamese pepper of all kinds today remain unchanged. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 g/l today is traded at 4,800 USD/ton; the price of 550 g/l is traded at 5,000 USD/ton; the price of ASTA white pepper is traded at 7,200 USD/ton.
Pepper prices of all types on the Kochi floor (India) today increased sharply compared to yesterday. Of which, the Garbled type traded at 60,600 Rupees/100kg, the UnGarble type at 58,600 Rupees/100kg.
Harvesting is winding down in the southern parts of Karnataka in India in April, while it has been completed in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Production has been relatively good in all regions this year with scattered rainfall throughout most of the crop growth stages. Pepper harvest in Vietnam has also concluded. Dry and hot weather conditions since December have been favorable for harvesting and drying. Yields are expected to remain stable in most parts of the country, but total production is estimated to decline by 5-10% due to a reduction in pepper acreage as farmers increase their acreage for alternative crops such as coffee and fruit trees.
