Coffee price forecast for tomorrow, April 7, 2025, the market "slows down".

At the end of the week, domestic coffee prices decreased by about VND5,000/kg compared to the previous week. Similarly, the world market decreased sharply; Robusta coffee futures for delivery in May 2025 decreased by USD225/ton; Arabica coffee futures for delivery in May 2025 decreased by 14.25 cents/lb.

Coffee prices plummeted last week mainly due to the US imposing massive reciprocal tariffs globally and planning to impose strong tariffs on partners that cause a large trade deficit for the US.

According to Reuters, the reciprocal tax that the US announced it would impose on Vietnam will cost US buyers an additional $2,500 per tonne. This is a major challenge for the US beverage industry - the world's largest beverage consumer. Meanwhile, Vietnam is the third largest source of coffee to the US market, and Vietnamese Robusta coffee is a widely used raw material in this country.

Experts say that Vietnam is currently the world’s largest producer of Robusta coffee and the third largest coffee supplier to the US market – the world’s largest coffee consumer. However, the US’s recent announcement of a reciprocal tax rate of up to 46% on coffee imported from Vietnam has put our country’s coffee industry at risk of being eliminated from one of its most important export markets.

The Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa) and businesses in the industry are urgently petitioning the Government and relevant international organizations to intervene diplomatically and propose that the US remove coffee from the list of goods subject to high tariffs. At the same time, the Vietnamese coffee industry is also encouraged to expand its market to less volatile regions such as Europe, China, South Korea and the Middle East.
