Rice price today April 16: Rice export price slightly decreased

Rice prices today, April 16, 2025 in the Mekong Delta region did not fluctuate much. The market has a small volume, rice and fresh rice products are relatively stable, while rice exports decreased slightly compared to the beginning of the week.

Regarding rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, currently OM 18 raw rice has increased by 50 VND/kg, ranging from 10,1500 - 10,300 VND/kg (compared to yesterday); IR 504 raw rice ranges from 7,900 - 8,050 VND/kg; OM 380 raw rice ranges from 7,700 - 7,850; 5451 raw rice ranges from 9,600 - 9,750 VND/kg; OM 380 finished rice ranges from 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice ranges from 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

As for by-products, the price of by-products ranges from 7,300 - 9,000 VND/kg. Currently, fragrant rice bran ranges from 7,300 - 7,500 VND/kg; the price of bran ranges from 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg.

Recorded in localities today, transactions are quite stable, all types of rice are purchased at stable prices. In An Giang, the volume is quite good, the warehouse purchases are small, prices are stable. In Lap Vo (Dong Thap), the volume is small, the warehouse purchases are slow, prices fluctuate little.

Sa Dec market canal (Dong Thap), the quantity is slow, the warehouse buys regularly, the price fluctuates little. At An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), the quantity is better, the warehouse buys slowly, the price is stable.

At retail markets, rice prices of all kinds remained unchanged compared to the beginning of the week. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of VND28,000/kg; regular rice fluctuates at VND15,500 - 16,000/kg; long-grain fragrant rice fluctuates at VND20,000 - 22,000/kg; Huong Lai rice fluctuates at VND22,000/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice fluctuates at VND18,000 - 20,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice fluctuates at VND22,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice fluctuates at VND21,000/kg; common white rice fluctuates at VND17,000/kg; Soc regular rice fluctuates at VND18,000/kg; Soc Thai rice is priced at VND21,000/kg; Japanese rice is priced at VND22,000/kg.

Similar to rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the current price of OM 18 rice (fresh) fluctuates at 6,800 - 7,000 VND/kg; the price of OM 380 rice (fresh) fluctuates at 5,900 - 6,000 VND/kg; the price of OM 5451 rice (fresh) decreased by 100 VND/kg, fluctuating at 6,200 - 6,300/kg; the price of Dai Thom 8 rice (fresh) fluctuates at 6,900 - 7,000/kg; the price of IR 50404 rice (fresh) fluctuates at 5,800 - 6,000 VND/kg; the price of Nang Hoa 9 rice fluctuates at 6,550 - 6,750 VND/kg.

In many localities today, the supply is still low; fresh rice trading is slow. In Tra Vinh, the rice fields are empty, most traders have deposited and are waiting to harvest. In An Giang and Can Tho, the supply of rice is still sparse, trading continues to be slow, prices fluctuate slightly.

In Kien Giang, the amount of Hon Dat rice has gradually decreased, the price is stable. In Bac Lieu, farmers keep the price of fresh ST rice high, many areas of fragrant rice have been deposited, the demand for buying is low. In Long An, the demand for buying is low, the buying and selling transactions are slow.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today decreased slightly compared to the beginning of the week. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), currently 5% standard rice is at 396 USD/ton (down 1 USD/ton); 25% broken rice is at 368 USD/ton (down 1 USD/ton); 100% broken rice is at 317 USD/ton.
