In An Giang, the price of Nang Hoa 9 rice has been adjusted up by VND100/kg, currently fluctuating between VND6,550 - 6,650/kg. Meanwhile, the price of most other rice varieties remains unchanged.

Dai Thom 8 and OM 18 rice (fresh type) are traded at 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg. OM 5451 and IR 50404 rice remain stable at 5,500 - 5,900 VND/kg.

In many other provinces in the Mekong Delta, OM 380 raw rice increased by VND200/kg to VND7,600-7,800/kg. IR 504 raw rice also increased to VND7,800-8,000/kg. This increase is considered significant in the context of the market entering the harvest season.

By-products such as broken rice 3.4 kept their prices at 6,600 - 6,700 VND/kg, while bran fluctuated slightly around 5,500 - 5,600 VND/kg.

According to traders, the price increase reflects the recovery in processing and export demand, especially as orders from the Philippines and Indonesia show signs of improvement. Stable export prices also create favorable conditions for the domestic market.

At retail markets, rice prices have not fluctuated much compared to yesterday. Nang Nhen rice currently has the highest price of 28,000 VND/kg. Regular rice ranges from 15,000 - 16,000 VND/kg, Thai fragrant rice from 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg, Huong Lai and Nang Hoa rice remain at 22,000 VND/kg. Rice price today April 1, 2025: Rice and paddy prices both increased slightly

In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained stable today. 5% broken rice is currently at 400 USD/ton, 25% broken rice is at 369 USD/ton, and 100% broken rice is at 325 USD/ton. Compared to the prices of the same type of rice from Thailand (400 USD/ton) and Pakistan (390 USD/ton), Vietnamese rice still maintains a certain competitiveness.

In India, the price of 5% broken white rice has decreased slightly by 5 USD/ton to 391 USD – equal to the price of 5% broken parboiled rice. This development shows that global competitive pressure is increasing, forcing Vietnamese exporters to carefully calculate costs to maintain their advantage.

In the Philippines, a major importer of rice from Vietnam, domestic purchases increased sharply in February. The National Food Authority (NFA) said it had purchased more than 20,600 tons of paddy rice, 30 times more than the same period last year thanks to its flexible pricing policy. However, this figure still fell short of its target of 21,400 tons. In 2025, the NFA plans to continue increasing purchases to ensure a national reserve sufficient for 15 days as required by the amended Rice Tariffication Law.
