At purchasing points such as Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the amount of rice imported is large, the purchasing warehouses are regular, especially fragrant rice is traded smoothly. Some large warehouses are interested in OM18 rice. In Cai Be (Tien Giang), the market is stable, good rice is easy to sell. Meanwhile, in Lap Vo (Dong Thap), prices tend to decrease slightly due to increased supply.

Soc Trang has a sporadic demand for rice, rice prices are still stable. In An Giang, rice purchasing is still normal. In Dong Thap, traders are mainly interested in fragrant rice. In Kien Giang, because the peak of the crop has passed, the amount of rice left is small, traders are having difficulty purchasing.

According to data from the Philippine Department of Agriculture, the country's rice imports by mid-March were only about 640,000 tons, down nearly 46% compared to the same period in 2024. The main reason was due to expectations of a better domestic crop and the impact of the policy of capping imported rice prices.
This situation may open up more opportunities for Vietnamese rice in the coming time, as many foreign businesses are looking for more stable supply sources and competitive prices in the international market.
