Pig price today 11/1

* The live pig market in the North recorded an increase in many localities.

Of which, Yen Bai province adjusted the price up by 2,000 VND/kg to 53,000 VND/kg - the highest in the region.

After a slight increase of VND1,000/kg, Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Thai Binh and Ha Nam provinces are now trading at VND52,000/kg, equal to Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc and Tuyen Quang.

Today's live pig price in the North is around 51,000 - 53,000 VND/kg.

* The price of live pigs in the Central and Central Highlands regions increased by VND 2,000/kg in Binh Thuan province, currently trading at VND 50,000/kg, equal to Thanh Hoa, Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue and Lam Dong.

The remaining provinces in the region have prices unchanged compared to yesterday.

Today's live pig price in the Central and Central Highlands regions ranges from 48,000 - 51,000 VND/kg.

* In the Southern region, pig prices remained stable across the board.

Of which, the lowest price of live pigs in the region is 49,000 VND/kg, continuing to be present in Hau Giang, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh, Ben Tre and Soc Trang.

Traders in the remaining provinces maintained stable purchasing of live pigs at around 50,000 - 51,000 VND/kg.

The price of live pigs in the Southern region today fluctuates between 49,000 - 51,000 VND/kg.

* Although the year-end holidays are approaching, the market has not yet recorded a strong increase in live pig prices.

CP Vietnam Livestock Company’s live hog price is still at 53,000 VND/kg in the North and 51,000 VND/kg in the South. However, there are signs of growth, and farmers expect a slow but sustainable increase in price in the long term.

Currently, the price of live pigs in the northern provinces remains the highest in the country and is expected to continue to increase as supply at markets has gradually decreased.

In contrast to Vietnam, the price of live pigs in China decreased by 600 VND/kg, down to 47,700 VND/kg, 2,200 VND/kg lower than the Vietnamese market.

Abundant pork supplies and low consumption due to a slowing economy have put pressure on China's pork market, despite peak demand during the winter season.

China's pork imports have been slowing down in recent months due to weak demand. According to data from the China Customs Administration, in the first 11 months of 2023, China imported 1.45 million tons of pork (HS 0203), worth 3.3 billion USD, down 6.1% in volume and 1.2% in value compared to the same period in 2022.
