According to the Dong Nai Livestock Association, the sharp increase in imported goods has contributed to the decrease in pork prices. At Hoc Mon wholesale market, on March 29, more than 4,400 pigs arrived at the market, an increase of more than 200 pigs compared to the beginning of March. The increase in the number of pigs arriving at the market has helped to cool down the prices.
The Department of Animal Husbandry (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) forecasts that pork output this year will increase by 3% to 3.8 million tons thanks to good control of African swine fever. National pork consumption is expected to reach 3.9 million tons this year and increase to 4.7 million tons by 2030.
According to the USDA Livestock and Poultry report, global meat production and consumption decreased by 1%, but international trade in this commodity remained more active. For pork, world production is expected to decrease by 0.8% to 115.1 million tons due to declines in China and the European Union.
