On the afternoon of February 21, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City held a conference to review people-overseas Vietnamese foreign affairs, the program "Vietnamese families with Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City" in 2024 and celebrate the Lunar New Year 2025.

In the bustling atmosphere of the first days of the year, Lao and Cambodian students living and studying far from home had the opportunity to meet, chat, and wish each other a new year of peace and success.

Sengchanthavong Khemphone (second year student, Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine) still remembers clearly the first days when he arrived in Vietnam with so much confusion and anxiety. But then, Sengchanthavong felt very lucky to have a "foster mother" in Ms. Duong Thi Bich Huy (living in Tan Binh district).

"My mother often comes to visit me at the dormitory and brings me familiar dishes. On weekends, I will go back to my mother's house to cook with the whole family, go out, and enjoy warm moments together like a real family" - Sengchanthavong shared.

Sengchanthavong also did not forget to thank the program "Vietnamese Family with Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City" for bringing him a second family in Vietnam. This not only helped Sengchanthavong feel less homesick, but also gave him an opportunity to learn more about the beauty of Vietnamese culture and people.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Ngo Thanh Son, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, highly appreciated the results achieved in people's foreign affairs in 2024. Mr. Son emphasized that the Front system and member organizations at all levels have effectively implemented people's foreign affairs activities with many new contents, measures and approaches.

Specifically, foreign propaganda work has been promoted on social networks; relations with foreign organizations and the foreign community living and working in Ho Chi Minh City have been increasingly consolidated and strengthened; friendly relations and cooperation with people of other countries have been expanded through exchange activities and delegation exchanges.

In addition, the work of training, fostering and building a team of cadres and collaborators doing people-overseas foreign affairs work is also focused on.

Mr. Son also particularly acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of the implementation of the people-overseas Vietnamese foreign affairs coordination program for the period 2020-2024, especially the program "Vietnamese families with Lao and Cambodian students studying in Ho Chi Minh City". He said that the program has created a good impression and the quality is increasingly improved, contributing to fostering the special friendship between the countries.

Hopefully in 2025, the program will continue to promote the successes it has achieved, spread good values and connect more hearts.
