Nearly 4,500 candidates take the city-level excellent student selection exam

TPO - On January 8, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training organized a city-level exam to select excellent students in cultural subjects for grade 12 with nearly 4,500 candidates participating.

Early in the morning, high schools brought students to Chu Van An High School to take part in the city-level excellent student competition. Before the competition, candidates were instructed to leave their personal belongings in the locker rooms and were only allowed to bring necessary items according to regulations.

Candidates take the exam in the following subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, English, French, Russian, Chinese, German, Japanese and Information Technology. Time limit is 180 minutes.

The exam content includes the entire 10th and 11th grade curriculum and part of the 12th grade curriculum. In particular, the IT subject is tested in the form of computer programming; foreign language subjects have additional listening skills; the remaining subjects are tested in the form of writing on paper.

Candidates and leaders of the Department of Education and Training witnessed the situation of exam papers being sealed before the exam time.

Inspecting the organization of the exam at Chu Van An High School and Phan Dinh Phung High School, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Department of Education and Training, encouraged candidates to be calm, confident, and read the questions carefully to do their best. He also asked teachers to supervise the exam seriously, in accordance with regulations, ensuring honesty, objectivity, and the policy of real learning, real testing, and real talent.

Sharing with candidates and teachers, Mr. Cuong said that this year, Hanoi has issued regulations on the level of rewards for students and teachers with good achievements in national and international competitions for excellent students. In addition, many higher education institutions also use the results of the city-level competition for excellent students for admission. These regulations will contribute more motivation for candidates and teachers in the process of teaching and nurturing students.

According to Mr. Cuong, in recent years, Hanoi has made efforts to promote teaching quality, narrowing the gap between high schools. Therefore, in addition to the outstanding general results, more and more students from suburban schools are entering the national excellent student team, and this is a good thing, encouraging teachers and students of the schools.
