To celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21, at Pham Van Dong Square, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province in collaboration with the Quang Ngai Yoga Federation organized the event to welcome the 10th International Yoga Day in 2024, with the theme "Yoga empowers women".
Yoga is an ancient Indian practice that combines physical, mental and spiritual activities to achieve harmony between body, mind and nature. Since 2015, June 21 has been chosen by the United Nations General Assembly as International Yoga Day at the request of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
There are currently over 70 Yoga clubs in the province with thousands of students of all ages and backgrounds practicing regularly. Thereby, contributing to improving the health, physical fitness and spiritual life of the people.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ngai province, Nguyen Lien Phuong, shared that International Yoga Day will become an annual event. It is a bridge to create resonance to promote the beautiful nature and friendly, hospitable people of Quang Ngai to domestic and international tourists. At the same time, it contributes to strengthening cultural exchange and friendly cooperation between the people of Quang Ngai province in particular, the people of Vietnam in general and the people of India.
On this occasion, the delegates performed the traditional Indian lamp lighting ceremony. Nearly 1,000 Yoga lovers and practitioners across the province performed 20 minutes of Yoga together to spread the Yoga spirit, with the meaning of bringing a healthy life to everyone.
