The first inter-regional heritage in Vietnam

Having gone through many difficulties in the process of building the dossier, receiving recommendations and comments from the World Heritage Committee (UNESCO), Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago received the support of international experts, scientists and member countries of the World Heritage Committee in the working program at the 45th Session of the World Heritage Committee held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia recently.

Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago is considered a geological museum, containing heritages with outstanding global values, witnessing the characteristic changes in the history of the earth's development.

The Ha Long - Cat Ba sea area consists of many terrigenous and carbonate sedimentary systems, ranging in age from the Paleozoic to the Cenozoic. Many sedimentary systems in this area contain paleontological traces in various fossil forms, including groups of flora and fauna that have become extinct or nearly extinct on earth.

With 1,133 limestone islands of various shapes and sizes covered with rich vegetation on sparkling emerald waters, Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago appears like a chessboard made of precious stones.

The presence of primary forests, bays and islands on the bays are unique evidence of the continuous movement and development of karst landforms, fengcong (conical peak clusters) and fenglin (isolated tower features) systems formed over millions of years in tropical, humid conditions, progressing greatly from high mountain ranges down to the sea, where the karst terrain finally reaches its basic level of erosion.

Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago owns the largest marine forest in Vietnam with an area of over 17,000 hectares and diverse ecosystems.

With the intersection of mountains, forests and islands, Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago is a typical area with a high level of diversity in Asia, possessing 7 adjacent marine - island, tropical and subtropical ecosystems.

This is also the habitat of many rare species of animals and plants, including 4,910 species of terrestrial and marine animals and plants, of which 198 are listed on the IUCN Red List and 51 are endemic.

In particular, the Cat Ba langur (Trachypithecus poliocephalus) is a rare species, on the list of animals at highest risk of extinction and listed in the World Red Book.

To date, there are only about 60 - 70 individuals distributed in Cat Ba, this species appears nowhere else in the world.

In fact, Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago being recognized as a world heritage site is not the first step of inter-regional cooperation between the two localities, because up to now, up to 95% of Ha Long Bay cruise tours pass through the Cat Ba Archipelago area.

Expanding the world natural heritage will increase the inherent value of the heritage, opening up a golden opportunity for the two localities to develop tourism, but also posing many challenges in preserving the heritage sustainably and developing infrastructure.

Flamingo Cat Ba Resorts becomes part of the everlasting green heritage

The World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago will certainly attract many international tourists in the coming time, and therefore, the facilities must also be classy and professional to match that top title.

Previously, Ha Long Bay was recognized as a world heritage site, so it has large and regular infrastructure and investment. Being recognized as a world heritage site will be a springboard for Cat Ba to rise and affirm its position.

At present, in parallel with preserving heritage, Cat Ba favors developing infrastructure according to the philosophy of green architecture, so that forests and seas can embrace the creations of human hands and minds.

The appearance of Flamingo Cat Ba Resorts - a 5-star resort complex that has won many prestigious international awards is a testament to that change. Located in the middle of the most beautiful bay in the world, Lan Ha, Flamingo Cat Ba has now risen to a new position: becoming a part of the immortal green heritage of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago.

Flamingo Cat Ba consists of three blocks of buildings embracing the mountains and bay, each building is like a green forest in the sky in complete harmony with the sky and the sea.

Here, from the villas on the green hills with their backs leaning against the cliffs and their faces facing the vast ocean, there is no longer a boundary between people, buildings and nature, only the connection between emotions and the dimensions of time and culture remains.

Another factor that helps Flamingo Cat Ba make a difference in the problem of sustainable heritage protection is the synchronization of environmentally friendly trends and saving natural resources.

This is a rare super resort project in the country that is built entirely from local, friendly materials, planted with tens of thousands of native trees, making maximum use of natural lighting and ventilation, energy-saving electrical systems, and giving top priority to environmental issues and human health.

Glass walls are used to the maximum to help each room be poetic and aesthetic, at the same time, taking advantage of natural light. The glass surface is covered with heat-insulating film, helping the building's cooling system not to be overloaded.

Glass wall system reduces the amount of electricity used for daytime lighting, saving maximum energy.

The advanced wastewater treatment system helps 100% of domestic wastewater from the three buildings to be reused for watering plants and flushing toilets, saving up to 41% of water consumption, contributing to solving difficulties in water supply in Cat Ba island district.

Modern green technology helps save energy. In particular, the ventilation and air conditioning system uses a cooling system with three 1100RT chillers to cool the entire project, a heat pump system, effective dehumidification, an automatic LED sensor system that turns on and off based on environmental sounds, and the electrical system used for public areas is completely controlled by a BMS intelligent control system.

Flamingo Cat Ba ensures at least 20% reduction in energy, water and embodied energy consumption of materials.

The emergence of projects such as Flamingo Cat Ba has raised Vietnam's sustainable green architecture to a new level, on par with Asia's leading green architectural complexes, while giving Cat Ba a new look and carrying the mission of developing Hai Phong tourism in the future.

On the basis of honoring cultural and artistic values, cherishing and respecting the natural ecosystem, Flamingo Cat Ba has recreated a small wonder in the heart of a great wonder, contributing to making the world natural heritage Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago a must-see place in life.
