The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that the shooting that injured Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump earlier in the day was an assassination attempt.

During a late-night press conference on July 13 (US time) in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Mr. Trump was holding a campaign rally when the gunshots rang out, agent Kevin Rojek affirmed: "Tonight we witnessed what we consider an attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump."
The FBI has "tentatively identified" the male suspect in the shooting and determined the threat has passed, the US agent added.
On the same day, the Indian Prime Minister gave his first reaction to the assassination. He stated in a post on X network: “Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. (I) strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracy. Wish him a speedy recovery.” In addition, Prime Minister Modi also expressed solidarity with the American people.
On July 14, Indian MP and leader of the opposition in the Lower House of Parliament, Mr. Rahul Gandhi, condemned the assassination of former President and current Republican presidential candidate of the United States Donald Trump. In a post on social network X, Mr. Rahul expressed his deep concern over the assassination and emphasized that such acts must be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
