Of the nine new railway lines expected to start construction before 2030, Dong Nai will have the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau lines. Currently, pre-feasibility studies are being prepared for the construction projects of these railway lines.
According to the Ministry of Construction, the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway project has a total length of about 42km, starting at Thu Thiem station (Ho Chi Minh City), ending at Long Thanh station (located between Long Thanh International Airport, Dong Nai). This railway is invested to serve passenger transport with a total estimated investment of about 3.5 billion USD. The project strives to start construction in 2027 and be completed in 2030.
In March 2025, the Ministry of Construction proposed that the Prime Minister assign the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee as the competent authority to invest in the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line and add it to the Ho Chi Minh City urban railway planning.
Meanwhile, the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway line has a total length of about 132km, starting at Trang Bom station (Dong Nai), ending at Vung Tau station (Ba Ria - Vung Tau). This railway line is expected to be designed with a passenger train speed of about 160km/h, and a freight train speed of 120km/h. The project is expected to start construction before 2030 and be basically completed in 2035.
