The East-West Avenue was inaugurated amid the jubilation of local residents. The road connecting Buon Ma Thuot airport to the city center has been shortened somewhat, but importantly, behind this project, the story of the new urban stature of Buon Ma Thuot is more strongly evoked.

There is a special similarity when looking at Buon Ma Thuot City today and Da Nang City in the years 2006 - 2009. All comparisons are lame, but the urbanization stories of the two lands have some noteworthy similarities. Some urban consultants recognize that Da Nang before 2009 was also full of enthusiasm, wanting to be the economic capital of the Central region, clearly positioning itself as a type 1 city directly under the Central Government. Buon Ma Thuot today also maintains that mindset, also full of concerns to develop the city to a new height.

But what is very similar is that Da Nang has made efforts to invest and open the East-West Highway connecting Da Nang airport to the city center, gradually renovating the old city campus from the speed of infrastructure spread of this traffic route.

Up to now, the East-West Avenue of Da Nang has been Nguyen Van Linh Street, the most luxurious and spacious commercial axis of this coastal city. From the old East-West Avenue, Da Nang has expanded its vision of economic infrastructure investment to the other side of the Han River, with the famous Dragon Bridge and the entire Vo Van Kiet - Vo Nguyen Giap intersection across the Son Tra coast. The appearance of a new city has gradually emerged with that progress.

Today, in the middle of the plateau, it is Buon Ma Thuot City’s turn to inaugurate the East-West Avenue. Local economic investors assess that this route is different, not only in shortening the distance, but also in enhancing the urban stature of Buon Ma Thuot. For a long time, no road has been expanded and has advantages along the route like this road.

On the side of Buon Ma Thuot airport, one can imagine a new space that will be renovated, converting on-site forestry projects into new urban areas, in the not too distant future. On the side of the city center, the East-West highlight with the intersecting roads connecting Le Duan, Dinh Tien Hoang... leads to new residential areas and urban areas that are being adjusted in planning. The city will have more opportunities to improve technical infrastructure, when the commercialization opportunities after the East-West Avenue are activated.

What needs to be worried about and well prepared is the management mindset of the authorities and functional departments. There is advice from consultants that is being put forward very closely, that Buon Ma Thuot City must be determined to "not inflate land prices" but must focus on investment and effective exploitation "on land".

These are new planning areas, there will be investment strategies, policies to attract investors, so that they can build service systems, products, from production to sales, in the most effective way. Exploiting the constructions on the land well, will grow according to the urban development trend of Buon Ma Thuot, so that those constructions are investment destinations, opening up great commercial business opportunities, is the goal of sustainable development.

If Buon Ma Thuot does not emphasize this issue, allowing the real estate market to freely “inflate prices”, pushing up land prices, it will be a “land bubble” danger that many previous provinces and cities have encountered. Da Nang, after the East-West Highway was opened, also “hit” that situation, and so far it is still very difficult to resolve. Buon Ma Thuot City must definitely avoid this expensive lesson and rely on the strength of the local economy to have a more positive and accurate direction to exploit opportunities.

It can be said that the major road in the heart of Buon Ma Thuot has been opened, the story of a promising urban area reaching new heights with new plans, in terms of commercial goods, in terms of developing services such as logistics, packaging, specialized processing, application of new technology to improve financial communication... has come to be raised. The strength of the economic capital of the Central Highlands has a bright spot to start shifting. That is truly a crucial issue that Buon Ma Thuot City needs to position.

Can this city take full advantage of the opportunities from the preferential policies approved by the Central Government, from the fact that the local investment economy has surpassed and is reaching new growth milestones, from the current situation of still being overwhelmed by the need to control and prevent adverse developments from the free economy? These questions need the attention of local authorities and sectors.

The East-West Highway is a branch of the economic investment flow that has been opened. Buon Ma Thuot City firmly grasps it and will be a shining plateau!
