On the morning of July 3, Mr. TVT (residing in Nghi Van commune, Nghi Loc, Nghe An) had a Vinh - Saigon flight, departing at 9:15 a.m. at Vinh International Airport, but due to a runway problem, he was forced to return to the terminal.
“After completing the check-in procedures, I went to my seat and settled down. However, about 30 minutes later, I received an announcement from the captain that the runway was cracked and passengers were forced to return to the terminal,” Mr. T. informed.
Mr. T. and nearly 160 passengers on the same flight had to return to the station to wait for announcements and further instructions.
At the check-in counter, an airline employee said: “The runway suddenly had an accident this morning. All flights arriving and departing from Vinh International Airport have been canceled. We hope for your understanding.”
At the station, many tourists looked very tired and were sitting in the waiting area.
A representative of Vinh International Airport said that a crack appeared right in the middle of the runway at Vinh Airport, causing dozens of flights to be temporarily delayed while waiting for the problem to be fixed.
Flights to and from Vinh International Airport have been suspended due to a runway crack.
“Due to the heat, a crack appeared right in the middle of the runway. All flights have been suspended to ensure safety. The crack that needs to be repaired is about 8 meters long,” said the leader of Vinh International Airport.
The leader added that the incident affected nearly 20 flights to and from Vinh airport. The contractor has arrived to resurface the runway where the crack appeared. The incident is expected to be resolved by the evening of July 3.
