On the morning of January 15, Phu Tho Primary School, District 11, Ho Chi Minh City opened "Tet Street Corner - Celebrating the Year of the Snake 2025" for students to experience traditional Tet right in the yard and in front of the school gate.
This Tet street corner was built by the school based on the model of 8 metro lines of Ho Chi Minh City and especially metro line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien) which has just been put into operation.
The model has a main yellow color similar to the paint color at Ben Thanh market and has many cars simulating train cars of metro lines.
This model is built right in front of the school gate along the wall. The special thing is that inside the model are bustling spring spaces, stalls selling parallel sentences, calligraphy, baskets of banh chung, banh giay, and colorful spring flowers: peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, etc., where students and teachers can experience the traditional Tet holiday.

“I have never been on metro line 1, so when the school had this model, when I entered the school gate, I felt like I was entering Ben Thanh market station of metro line 1. Once there, my friends and I got to board the train and have fun at many spring stalls, both strange and fun,” Lam Tuyet Nhi, class 2/4, Phu Tho Primary School, shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Huong, the school principal, said that this model was built by teachers and students in about a week.
Teachers will be in charge of the difficult stages, students will make easy products to decorate the model and create a bustling "Tet Street Corner" with spring colors, both imbued with the traditional Tet spirit and the appearance of modern, dynamic Ho Chi Minh City.
Accordingly, from now until January 22 (December 23, the year of the Dragon), each class will have an experiential lesson to visit the model and learn about the traditional Tet, the unique culture and the modernization changes of Ho Chi Minh City.

“The completion of metro line 1 marks an important turning point in the public transport system of Ho Chi Minh City. Many students of the school may not have been taken by their parents to experience this metro line. Therefore, during the local culture and traditional Tet education period, the school uses this model to introduce students to metro line 1 so that they can understand and love the city more.
That also helps students and parents who have not had experience with metro line 1 to have more options during the upcoming spring holidays in Ho Chi Minh City," Ms. Kim Huong added.
Giving many gifts to poor students for Tet
During the opening ceremony of Tet Street Corner, the primary school also gave many gifts to poor students to celebrate Tet. In addition to receiving gifts of candy and lucky money, poor students were also given rice to have family reunion meals during Tet.
