Bringing the play "Chi Pheo" to student audiences

On March 18, the "School Stage" kick-off program with the literary play "Chi Pheo" took place at Khanh Hoi Secondary School, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City.

Singer Ha Chau - the 5th daughter of the late musician - Meritorious Artist Bac Son said: "In addition to the songs of Bac Son music genre that are familiar to students such as: "Con thuong rau dang moc sau he", "Em di tren co non", "Sa mua giong" ... the program also introduces excerpts from literary plays. The play "Chi Pheo" is a typical example in the promotion of theatrical works based on literature, so that through the lessons taught by teachers, students will better understand the characters they have read in books, which are creatively recreated on stage".

According to the plan of Lac Long Quan Theatre Club, plays based on literary works of the critical realism movement from 1930-1945 will be composed and staged. Actors Hoang Trung Anh, Chau Nhat Tin, Pham Thi Ngoc Bich, Truong Huy… are actors who have nurtured many creative ideas to send to secondary and high school students through newly written excerpts of literary plays, messages of profound humanity.

Actor Hoang Trung Anh - a student of Meritorious Artist Huu Chau said: "I want to bring literary plays to school with productions that are invested in from the script to the performance form. Because the duration must be short, the play must be really concise. Through that, educational messages are integrated into the play. After each performance in March and April this year, students will interact with the actors, thereby absorbing more quickly the literary works that have been conveyed by teachers on the podium. Many students cried and cheered for each of our performances. That is a great happiness".

Currently, many schools have ordered performances to serve students and parents through signing contracts with Lac Long Quan Theater Club, specifically Nguyen Tri Phuong Secondary School (District 10), Luong Van Can (District 8), Tran Quang Khai (District 11), Le Trong Tan (Tan Phu District)...

The model of bringing literary plays to student audiences has attracted the attention of famous artists, including Meritorious Artist Le Thien, comedian My Chi, artist Kieu Phuong Loan...

Meritorious Artist Le Thien is ready to join young actors as she once performed the play "Mother forever in my life" with actors from Lac Long Quan Theatre Club, performed at the HCM City Labor Culture Palace. She said: "The criteria of artistic quality are put first. Bringing literary plays to schools promises to create more practical effects for the teaching and learning of teachers as well as students."

Bringing theater to schools is a good thing, containing many positive elements. In addition to reaching out to the audience by bringing plays and stage excerpts to perform in schools, the "School Theater" project has created some changes in the perception of theater arts in a large number of high school students, contributing to shaping the students' minds with knowledge about traditional theater subjects, discovering some talented people to nurture, encourage and motivate.

The artists and singers were very excited to receive the enthusiastic response from students of the schools. It is known that in addition to the performances in Ho Chi Minh City, the "School Stage" program will soon organize exchanges and performances in Long An, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria - Vung Tau... and stage many new plays based on Vietnamese literary works.
