Cruise on Ham Thuan Lake

One weekend of the year of the Dragon, we followed Highway 55 to Da Mi (Ham Thuan Bac). This is the only locality that owns two large artificial lakes after the Ham Thuan - Da Mi hydroelectric project was completed, namely Ham Thuan lake with a water surface area of nearly 2,500 hectares and Da Mi lake with an area of more than 700 hectares.

Da Mi Lake is just a reservoir with no current, so the lake surface seems calm all year round. The lake is hidden among the vast, ancient forests interspersed with green rocky mountains. Looking down from above at Ham Thuan Lake, Da Mi Lake looks like a watercolor painting. The emerald green water is dotted with small yellow-brown islands, and occasionally there are passenger boats stopping on the small islands to rest and admire the poetic natural scenery.

Spring days in Ham Thuan - Da Mi, a poetic, peaceful and cool space, we feel like we forget all the hardships and worries of daily life to return to the beautiful nature, feel the space filled with the sound of birds singing along the old forest or sturgeon splashing on the calm lake surface. Mr. Nguyen Van An, a local in Da Mi, guided us to visit the lake and then stopped on a green island to rest, he said: "Da Mi has many beautiful landscapes. On the lake there are many small islands, green old forests surrounding the lake. Further away are wild, majestic waterfalls that always attract the curiosity and exploration of tourists... With the landscape on Ham Thuan lake like a miniature Ha Long Bay. Visitors to Da Mi not only admire the lake in the middle of the mountains but also enjoy famous specialties such as: Sturgeon hotpot, grilled catfish, fried or mango salad, free-range chicken boiled with lemon leaves or grilled extremely delicious...".
