Expected to start construction of Cam Lo Expressway expansion

The Ministry of Transport has just submitted a pre-feasibility study report to the Prime Minister on the project to invest in the construction and expansion of the North-South Expressway in the East, the Cam Lo - La Son section through the provinces of Quang Tri and Thua Thien Hue. Accordingly, the project is expected to start construction in March 2025 and be basically completed by the end of 2025 with a scale of expansion to 4 lanes.

The project aims to expand the roadbed, road surface and works on the route from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. Since phase 1 of the project has completed site clearance for 4 lanes, the land area occupied by the expansion project is only 29.05 hectares. The total preliminary investment is 6,488 billion VND, of which construction and equipment costs are 5,078 billion VND; compensation, support and resettlement costs are 84 billion VND.

Based on the necessity, urgency, and investment efficiency, to ensure successful implementation and early completion of the expansion, the Ministry of Transport proposes to implement the project in the form of public investment. After completion, a plan will be developed to recover state capital.

Currently, the Ministry of Transport is investing in the La Son - Hoa Lien and Van Ninh - Cam Lo sections with a scale of 4 lanes, expected to be basically completed in 2025. Therefore, expanding the Cam Lo - La Son section from a scale of 2 lanes to a complete scale of 4 lanes will ensure synchronization in scale, promoting the investment efficiency of the expressway sections under investment.
