Yen Bai - April 30, 1975 - a brilliant milestone in the history of the Vietnamese people, marking the end of the long resistance war, regaining independence and unifying the country. This is a historical moment that millions of Vietnamese hearts from North to South are filled with joy and pride. The country's peace and unity has opened a new era - the era of development, innovation and integration. Since then, each region, each locality, including Yen Bai province, has made strong strides on the path of economic, cultural and social development.

After the country's reunification, Yen Bai faced many difficulties and challenges. Together with the whole country, the province embarked on the task of reconstruction, economic recovery, and rebuilding from the difficulties and ruins. Entering the period of innovation, Yen Bai has constantly strived to rise up. In the context of the country implementing comprehensive innovation, the province has chosen a suitable direction, prioritizing the development of agricultural economy associated with the development of industry, small-scale industry, and services.

With its strengths in agriculture, especially agricultural products such as rice, tea, cinnamon, bamboo shoots and fruit trees, Yen Bai has implemented sustainable rural development models, applying science and technology to production.

Currently, the province has built large specialized areas such as: Bat Do bamboo growing area with an area of ​​4,200 hectares in Tran Yen district; cinnamon growing area with an area of ​​57,000 hectares in Van Yen district; fruit growing area with an area of ​​1,600 hectares in Van Chan district; hawthorn growing area with an area of ​​over 6,000 hectares in Mu Cang Chai district; grapefruit growing area with an area of ​​over 350 hectares in Yen Binh district...

At the same time, in recent years, the province has focused on investing in infrastructure development, especially the road system to connect regions and expand the consumption market for local products. The system of industrial parks has gradually been formed, creating jobs and increasing income for people. In addition, Yen Bai pays special attention to protecting and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities living in the locality. The combination of economic development and cultural preservation has created a solid foundation for the province's sustainable development.

From the initial achievements, Yen Bai province has not only stopped at developing its own economy but has also risen to integrate with the whole country and the world. Yen Bai has proactively participated in regional development cooperation programs and projects, connecting with major provinces and cities in the country; at the same time, promoting the development of the tourism industry to introduce the unique values ​​of Yen Bai to domestic and foreign friends. Up to now, tourism has become one of the key industries of the province.

Yen Bai is known for its scenic spots and rich cultural heritages such as Mu Cang Chai district with terraced fields; Suoi Giang commune, Van Chan district with fresh and cool climate; Thac Ba lake, Yen Binh district with thousands of large and small islands; many festivals, national intangible cultural heritages such as Dong Cuong temple festival, the art of using beeswax to create patterns on fabric of Mong people in Van Chan, Tram Tau, Mu Cang Chai districts; Gau Tao festival, Cap sac festival of Red Dao people, Thac Ba temple festival... and especially "Thai Xoe art" has been listed by UNESCO in the list of representative intangible cultural heritages of humanity. On average, each year, there are millions of tourists coming to Yen Bai, contributing significantly to the local budget and creating many job opportunities for the people.

In 2024, there will be 2.1 million visitors to Yen Bai, with estimated revenue of 1,790 billion VND. In addition to tourism, the province has also invested heavily in developing high-quality agricultural products, products with local characteristics such as Shan Tuyet tea, cinnamon, specialty rice... This not only helps Yen Bai increase the value of agricultural products but also creates export products, helping the province integrate into the global supply chain.

In particular, up to now, the province's transport infrastructure system has also been significantly improved, creating strong connections between localities in the province and neighboring provinces, while expanding trade gateways with lowland provinces and internationally. Currently, Yen Bai has built 8 bridges across the Red River in Van Yen, Tran Yen districts and Yen Bai city.

Thereby, meeting the travel and trade needs of the people, shortening the transportation time of enterprises; attracting investment and developing industrial parks and industrial clusters. The expressway connecting Yen Bai with other provinces has helped shorten travel time, promote trade and create favorable conditions for investors. The development of the transport infrastructure system has been and is an important driving force to help the province form economic axes according to the decision approving the planning of Yen Bai province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

At the same time, up to now, Yen Bai is a bright spot in the Northwest region in terms of new rural construction with a total of 116 communes meeting new rural standards; 5/9 district-level units meeting standards and completing the task of building new rural areas; more than 300 villages and hamlets meeting model new rural standards. Yen Bai's annual economy has grown quite well. The province's culture and society have also had many positive marks.

The quality of education and training, and health care for the people have been improved; social security policies have been fully and promptly implemented. Nearly 80% of the total number of kindergartens and primary schools in the province have been recognized as meeting national standards. In particular, the number of poor households in the province has decreased to 5.22%, ranking 6th out of 14 provinces in the region.

Looking back at the development of Yen Bai after April 30, 1975, it can be affirmed that along with the continuous efforts of the Party Committee, the government, agencies and units, solidarity and unity are the decisive factors for the success of the province. Solidarity is not only reflected in the consensus of the Party Committees and the government but also the connection between ethnic groups and people of all classes.

Every Yen Bai citizen is fully aware of his or her responsibility in the cause of building the homeland and the country. Therefore, April 30 is not only the anniversary of the historic victory but also an opportunity for each Yen Bai citizen to recall the heroic memories of the past and arouse national pride. It is from these historical values ​​that the people in the province have been and are continuing to strive and contribute to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

The important foundation from the achievements that have been achieved will help Yen Bai continue to be a bright spot in the overall development picture of the country, contributing to making April 30, 1975 not only a historical memory but also a strong driving force to promote the cause of building the homeland and the country to develop more and more powerfully and prosperously.

Of which: the growth rate of the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector will reach 3.56%, ranking 5th out of 14 provinces in the region; the industry - construction sector will reach 10.17%, ranking 7th out of 14 provinces in the region; the service sector will reach 8.94%, ranking 2nd out of 14 provinces in the region, ranking 6th in the country, the highest in many years.
