The Brazilian coach has great confidence in his players, especially appreciating the team's efforts and desire to win. "From the first training sessions, I said that the U.17 Vietnam players all have very good technical quality. They all have the ability to be promoted to the first team, of course they still need to hone their skills and have many things to improve," said coach Cristiano Roland.

Coach Cristiano Roland added: "Through the training sessions, the players have understood my ideas. Above all, their efforts and desire have increased day by day. Right from the first training session, the players have shown their desire and that has given the coaching staff more motivation to train the team. In the near future, the young players still have a long way to go. With the current development potential, we are looking forward to the day when they can play in the V-League and contribute to the national team."

In this gathering, the U.17 Vietnam team gathered the core of players who participated in the previous gatherings, most recently the U.16 Peace Cup 2024 organized by the Chinese Football Association. In this tournament, coach Cristiano Roland's students played very impressively when they defeated U.16 Uzbekistan 3-0 and U.16 Japan 1-0 to win the overall runner-up position. In order to increase competitiveness, coach Cristiano Roland also expanded the list by giving opportunities to a number of new players, notably overseas Vietnamese player Maxwell James Peereboom, who is currently living with his family in Australia and playing for the Gold Coast Knights youth team (one of the top clubs in the National Premier Leagues Queensland, Australia).

When asked about Maxwell James Peereboom, coach Cristiano Roland said: "I have received information about Maxwall from the VFF. Therefore, the coaching staff has planned to call him back to Vietnam to observe him more. Through the training process, we will be able to compare his ability with other players in the team."

According to the plan, the Vietnam U.17 team will practice in Hanoi until September 29, then go to Japan for training and competition from September 30 to October 9. On October 10, coach Roland Cristiano's team will return home to complete the final preparations before participating in the 2025 U.17 Asian qualifiers.

Match schedule of U.17 Vietnam in the 2025 U.17 Asian qualifiers

In the 2025 AFC U-17 qualifiers, the Vietnam U-17 team will host Group I, taking place at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho from October 23 to October 27. Coach Roland Cristiano and his team will welcome U-17 Kyrgyzstan (October 23), U-17 Myanmar (October 25) and U-17 Yemen (October 27). This promises to be a difficult group for Vietnam U-17. Myanmar U-17 is a regional opponent with an annoying playing style. Meanwhile, U-17 Kyrgyzstan and U-17 Yemen will be the teams directly competing with Vietnam U-17.
