New breakthrough in Vietnam-India digital trade relations

The workshop with the theme "Vietnam-India Cooperation in Cross-border E-Commerce" marks a new turning point in the digital economic cooperation between the two most dynamically developing countries in Asia.

According to a VNA reporter in New Delhi, Vietnam and India have just made an important step forward in promoting cross-border e-commerce cooperation through a seminar held in Noida city, India.

The workshop with the theme "Vietnam-India Cooperation in Cross-border E-Commerce" marks a new turning point in the digital economic cooperation between the two most dynamically developing countries in Asia.

The event was organized in coordination with the Vietnam E-Commerce and Digital Economy Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Vietnam Trade Office in India, and many Indian trade and industry organizations such as GTTCI, WASME, ECMEI, AAFT and Marwah Studios.

Participating in the workshop on the Vietnamese side were Mr. Do Quoc Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Market Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade; Mr. Bui Trung Thuong - Commercial Counselor in India; On the Indian side, there were Mr. Sanjiv Layek - Secretary General of the World Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME); Mr. Gaurav Gupta - Founding Chairman of the Global Trade and Technology Council of India (GTTCI) and nearly 100 business representatives and e-commerce experts from the two countries.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, Mr. Do Quoc Hung said that the workshop is an important event marking a new step forward in economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and India in the context of strong digital transformation and global integration.

According to Mr. Do Quoc Hung, Vietnam's e-commerce market is witnessing impressive growth, expected to reach 25 billion USD by 2024 and could reach 40 billion USD in the next 5 years. Meanwhile, India is forecast to surpass the 200 billion USD mark, affirming its position as an e-commerce powerhouse in Asia.

At the conference, Mr. Gaurav Gupta, Founder Chairman of GTTCI, emphasized the pivotal role of Indian technology in promoting digital trade with Vietnam. Initiatives such as Digital India and Make in India are considered a solid foundation for this development.

Experts have pointed out the advantages and challenges in e-commerce cooperation between the two countries. Besides accessing a large market and reducing transaction costs, businesses need to overcome legal, tariff and freight barriers./.
