Siam Sport wrote: "Applications for the position of FAT President are accepted from today (November 24) to December 9. From March 11, 2024, FAT will officially have a new President and Executive Committee, starting a 4-year term from 2024 to 2028."
Among them, the head of the Thai football delegation, Nualphan Lamsam (nicknamed Madam Pang), is considered the number one candidate for the FAT President position. A month ago, this female billionaire officially announced her candidacy for the President position.
She will receive support from two powerful figures in Thai football, Buriram United Club President Newin Chidchob and Pathum United Club President Khun Pavin Bhirombkhadi.
Madam Pang is currently the owner of Port Club, the leading football team in Thailand at the moment. However, if she takes the position of President of FAT, the female billionaire will have to "sacrifice her interests" in the club by giving this seat to someone else.
It is worth mentioning that Madam Pang asserted her power when she fired coach Mano Polking (which was the job of the Football Association of Thailand). She was also the one who negotiated and paid compensation for the Brazilian coach out of her own pocket.

As for the appointment of coach Masatada Ishii, Madam Pang has not yet discussed the details with the Football Association of Thailand. Therefore, fans do not know whether the Japanese coach will sign a short-term or long-term contract. The reason is that the term of the FAT officials will end in February 2024. Only after the new term begins, will the FAT finalize the contract term of coach Masatada Ishii.
Explaining the decision to appoint coach Masatada Ishii, Madam Pang said: "For the new coach position, we have carefully considered before deciding to appoint Mr. Masatada Ishii. This coach will take over the job at the Thai national team immediately.
The reason is that the team does not have much time to prepare when the 2023 Asian Cup takes place in January next year. Besides, we have 4 remaining matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Therefore, the priority of the Football Association of Thailand is to choose someone who is knowledgeable about Thai football.
Masatada Ishii has experience working in Thailand and Japan. Remember, Japan is a model team of Asian football. I believe coach Masatada Ishii is the right person for the Thai team."
