After efforts, Hong Ngu 110kV Substation was energized and put into operation at 9:55 a.m. on March 27, 2025.
The project has a total investment of more than 33.8 billion VND, increasing the capacity of transformer T1 from 40MVA to 63MVA, while transformer T2 remains at 40MVA. This upgrade helps reduce the load on the station, ensuring stable power supply for Hong Ngu city, Hong Ngu district, Tan Hong district and Preyveng province (Cambodia), while strengthening the 22kV loop connection, sharing the load between 110kV transformer stations in the area and improving the reliability of power supply according to the N-1 criteria.
Mr. Tu Minh Viet - Deputy Director of the Southern Power Grid Project Management Board said that with an expected load growth rate of 9%/year, the electricity demand in the region by the end of 2024 will reach 73.1MW, of which about 3.5MW will be supplied to Preyveng province. In addition, the Khoi Nghiep and Binh Hung industrial clusters in Hong Ngu city are also being planned and will put into operation an additional 10MW in 2025. Therefore, upgrading the Hong Ngu 110kV substation is urgent to prevent overload and ensure stable power supply, contributing to local socio-economic development.
The project was completed on schedule thanks to the strong determination of the Southern Power Grid Project Management Board, contractors, consultants, supervisors and Dong Thap Power Company. The project is an important milestone in the 90-day sprint emulation movement to "Complete the energization of 50 110kV power grid projects" to celebrate 50 years of EVNSPC "Building - Developing - Lighting up trust" (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
