In the bustling atmosphere of the whole country celebrating Tet, on the border lines managed by Tra Co Border Guard Station, the soldiers in green uniforms still hold their guns firmly every day and every hour, performing patrol duties, firmly protecting the sovereignty of the national border.
During these days before Tet, Senior Lieutenant Trinh Van Hao, Captain of the Drug and Crime Prevention Team (Tra Co Border Guard Station), and his teammates are still working hard on patrolling, controlling, and protecting the border and the sea and islands under the management of the unit. According to the plan, they will carry out the border protection mission until December 29 and wait for the next plan from their superiors, but the officers and soldiers are mentally ready to be on duty "throughout" Tet.
Senior Lieutenant Hao shared: "When Tet comes, everyone wants to reunite with their families to celebrate the new year. However, the task of protecting border sovereignty cannot be neglected, so the officers and soldiers of the unit encouraged each other to "pack up" their homesickness and volunteered to stay on duty during Tet. Understanding the working situation, the families of the officers and soldiers often call to encourage and share. That is warm enough, giving us more motivation to stick to the area and complete the assigned tasks well."
With more than 20 years in the military, Lieutenant Colonel Luc Chinh Duc, Deputy Chief of the Professional Station, has stayed at the unit for many years during Tet with his teammates, sharing: The Station is assigned the task of managing and protecting the 12.5km long sea and land border line, the border area includes Tra Co and Binh Ngoc wards of Mong Cai City. The unit's area of responsibility is large, with both sea and land, so the task of protecting sovereignty and border security associated with fighting and preventing all kinds of crimes faces many difficulties. Especially before, during and after Tet, criminals often take advantage of the occasion to transport smuggled and prohibited goods across the border... In that situation, closely following the directives of superiors at all levels, the Station has proactively launched a peak period of attacking and suppressing crimes and law violations in the border and sea areas during the Lunar New Year 2025.
During the peak period, the Station deployed 4 working teams in the sea area and 2 working teams in the land border area. The working teams regularly patrolled and controlled 24 hours a day, tightened border management and protection, and promptly fought against all types of crimes.
To ensure that officers and soldiers in the unit can be assured to be on duty during Tet, the Station has done a good job of political and ideological education for soldiers; at the same time, it has ensured all the regimes to organize Tet celebrations and implement joyful, healthy, safe and economical activities to welcome the New Year in the unit. Thanks to that, officers and soldiers on duty during Tet are all assured, happy, clearly identify their responsibilities, and unite to complete the assigned tasks well.
Notably, closely following the spirit of "Happy New Year without forgetting the duty", since the beginning of the peak period until now, the Station has arrested and handled 7 cases/13 subjects with law violations in border areas and sea areas; seized evidence of 3.05g of drugs, 2,432 cylinders of laughing gas (N2O), 880kg of dirty food; prosecuted 2 cases/4 subjects for the acts of storing and illegally using drugs, organizing illegal entry and exit for others...
