Vietnam tennis team received 100 million VND reward

President of the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF), Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky, gave a bonus of 100 million VND to the Vietnamese tennis team. The reward was presented at Tan Son Nhat airport right after coach Nguyen Quoc Bao and his team returned home on the morning of July 30.

At the Davis Cup Group III Asia-Pacific region, the Vietnamese tennis team has successfully won a place in the 2024 World Group II play-off, alongside Iran and Pacific Oceania. The Vietnamese tennis players defeated Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia and Jordan with the same score of 2-1. They only lost to the Iranian tennis team on the first day of the competition with a score of 0-3.

" The team's achievements this time are quite surprising, but in terms of strength, we are completely capable of competing with the remaining opponents for a ticket to the world group II play-off and we did it ," coach Nguyen Quoc Bao commented on the achievements of the Vietnamese tennis team.

On the side of the Vietnam Tennis Federation, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance. This performance exceeded expectations when the Vietnam team did not have all the best players.

" The Vietnamese tennis team participated in the Davis Cup this year with the goal of staying in the rankings. If possible, we will seize the opportunity when key players like Hoang Nam or Linh Giang are not participating. However, the young players like Van Phuong or Minh Duc have done very well, taking advantage of the opportunity to help the Vietnamese tennis team participate in the 2024 World Group II play-offs ," said Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ky.

" After unsuccessfully competing at the SEA Games or previously at the Davis Cup, this success is a strong catalyst for us to create confidence in the young generation as well as an image to motivate the young generation behind. Currently, the Vietnam Tennis Federation has held tournaments from U10 to U18. In addition, the success at the Davis Cup is very encouraging for the Vietnamese tennis team in particular and the youth training process of Vietnamese tennis in general ," added the VTF President.

After finishing the Davis Cup journey, the next goal of the Vietnam Tennis Team will be the ASIAD tournament taking place in China next September.
