Argentina, the defending champions, are in Group A and will play the opening match of the 2024 Copa America on June 20, 2024 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Messi and his teammates will be drawn against weaker opponents such as Peru, Chile and the 5th CONCACAF team (Trinidad & Tobago or Canada).
Argentina is the reigning champion of Copa America.
Argentina's opening match will be against the fifth CONCACAF team on June 20, 2024, followed by Chile on June 25, 2024 and the final match against Peru on June 29, 2024.
Meanwhile, Brazil is in a tough Group D with Colombia, Paraguay and the 6th CONCACAF team (Costa Rica or Honduras).
Colombia and Paraguay are both strong opponents and are playing impressively in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America. Colombia is currently ranked 3rd, while Paraguay is only 2 points behind Brazil in the battle for 6th place and a direct ticket to the 2026 World Cup finals. The remaining teams in the CONCACAF region, Costa Rica or Honduras, are not easy to beat.
Group B includes Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela and Jamaica. The host team USA is in Group C with Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia.
Copa America 2024 Groups
The 2024 Copa America will take place in the United States from June 20 to July 14. There will be 16 teams, divided into 4 groups of 4 teams each. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarterfinals, and will compete in a knockout format in the semifinals and finals. The 2024 Copa America final will be held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
