Nguyen Huy Thiep 'sprinkles salt' on the writing page

The book Conversations with Narcissus and ... has just been published by Tre Publishing House, including important essays written by Nguyen Huy Thiep during the period of literary debate about him (from 1988 - 1992).

In the new collection of essays and criticisms, Nguyen Huy Thiep discusses many issues in literary theory, criticism and creation: the mission of the writer, the value and beauty of literature in different genres... According to Nguyen Huy Thiep, good writers always have a little salt sprinkled somewhere on each page. Salt rubs the reader's heart once, but rubs the heart of the writer ten times. "For a writer who does not have faith in life, his writings can only stop at the level of writing for a living, but it will take a long time to reach the level of culture," he wrote.

Nguyen Huy Thiep also mentioned many fundamental theoretical issues in literature, such as: the task of literature, the ideology of the work and the work of the writer. He also presented many of his own interpretations of some literary genres such as short stories, poems and novels, and devoted a large part of the book to writing about his respected literary and poetic friends: Le Kim Giao, Nguyen Bao Sinh, Nguyen Viet Ha, Hoang Ngoc Hien, Dong Duc Bon, Tran Dang Khoa..., and some artists in other fields such as photography and painting.
