Technological innovation brings many opportunities and challenges to journalism.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, said that as of May 31, Thanh Nien Newspaper had a total of 443 employees working under official contracts and nearly 100 teams of collaborators nationwide.

Editor-in-Chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper Nguyen Ngoc Toan delivered the opening speech at the conference.

Of which, the number of resident reporters working in other provinces and cities outside the two main editorial offices (Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi) is 36 people, accounting for 28.3% of the national reporter force and 8.1% of the total number of employees of the entire agency.

Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Ngoc Toan assessed that resident reporters play a very important role, contributing to fully reflecting information and activities of localities, provinces and cities across the country and have brought many positive results to the general activities of Thanh Nien Newspaper in all aspects of work, from content work, journalism economics to social charity activities for the community and behind-the-scenes event programs.

Resident reporters and representative offices can be considered the "extended arms" of the editorial office in localities across the country, the front line of news.

Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association spoke at the conference.

At the conference, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association expressed his surprise that Thanh Nien Newspaper has a system of resident reporters spread across nearly 40 provinces and cities; and said that this is the difference that helps Thanh Nien Newspaper promptly and vividly reflect information about social and economic life throughout the country.

Mr. Minh also mentioned the growth of Thanh Nien Newspaper in recent times, reflected in its content, form, journalism economics, and the prestige of journalists. In particular, he highly appreciated the application of information technology in Thanh Nien Newspaper's journalism.

According to the Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, technological innovation brings many opportunities to the press but also poses many challenges. In the future, journalists will not only work with a notebook, a pen or a camera but also many other influencing factors.

Thanh Nien Newspaper was honored to receive the Government's Emulation Flag.

Mr. Minh gave an example of Facebook's algorithm change for newspapers, causing traffic through this channel to decrease from 30% to about 12%; or search engines currently bring about 50% of traffic to newspapers, but in the future there will also be changes to help searchers not need to access the article link, significantly reducing traffic...

From the above practice, Mr. Minh believes that the press must grasp technology, in addition to creating good content, it is necessary to strongly apply digital transformation, must proactively welcome readers on new platforms, not simply follow to meet.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Deputy Director of the Press Department (Ministry of Information and Communications), affirmed that Thanh Nien is a large newspaper in terms of circulation, readership, access and press economic scale. This is also a newspaper with a long tradition, many achievements, recognized by the leaders of the Party and State; especially loved by many readers.

According to Mr. Hieu, starting from a print newspaper, in recent years, Thanh Nien Newspaper has had a huge change in interface and technology on platforms. This is a very rapid transformation to adapt to modern journalism style, applying multimedia journalism technology.

Currently, Thanh Nien Newspaper is the number 1 newspaper on YouTube platform with about 5 million registered accounts and 4.5 billion views.

11 journalists of Thanh Nien Newspaper were awarded the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism" Medal by the Vietnam Journalists Association.

At the conference, with the outstanding achievements in 2022, Thanh Nien Newspaper was honored to receive the Emulation Flag of the Government.

On this occasion, the People's Committees of Quang Ninh and Nam Dinh provinces also decided to award certificates of merit to the Northeastern Office of Thanh Nien Newspaper for its outstanding achievements in propaganda work. Eleven journalists of Thanh Nien Newspaper were awarded the "For the Cause of Vietnamese Journalism" Medal by the Vietnam Journalists Association.
