Challenges from change
According to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, in a time when the economic and social situation is changing, especially under pressure from technological changes, market fluctuations and new consumer trends, businesses will face competition as well as pressure, forcing them to change and adapt.
However, many businesses, especially small and medium-sized businesses, are still afraid of change due to fear of risks, lack of resources and stability in old ways of doing things. Human resources also tend to be "safe", afraid of being eliminated when there is a disruption in the process or new skill requirements. This creates a great obstacle to the innovation process. Therefore, change management is a vital requirement for businesses. This is the process of proactively designing a transformation roadmap, minimizing disruption, creating internal consensus and ensuring that all members understand, are ready and capable of moving forward with the business.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung shared that change management is the process of guiding individuals, groups and organizations to move from their current state to a desired future state. The purpose of change management is to help the transition process go smoothly, minimize stress and conflict and increase the receptivity of those involved.
Accordingly, change management will refer to how businesses handle reforms. Such as implementing new technology, adjusting existing processes and changing organizational hierarchies to help businesses master methods, tools and strategies to lead the organization to overcome challenges, adapt and develop sustainably.
Enterprises can orient change management in three main forms: Developmental change; transitional change or transformational change.
In which, developmental change (adaptive change) starts with small, gradual, iterative changes to develop products, improve processes, and refine strategies to adapt to time. For example, changing product designs, improving production processes, adjusting products after market feedback, and launching new products. This is the most common type of change. Or, transitional change with larger, strategic changes helps the organization transition to a new state such as: Mergers, acquisitions, automation. The highest level of change is transformational change that is breakthrough, has a profound impact on the organization, and changes the way the organization operates and operates. This state requires fundamental changes in thinking, organizational principles, and behavior, all designed to support new business directions.
Understanding in change management
At the courses, businesses pointed out many issues related to determining the right time to change, the steps to design a change roadmap suitable for the business. Or the story of internal resistance when employees are afraid of being replaced, or forced to adapt to new things. The role of the leader in leading, inspiring and maintaining motivation for the entire team when managing change. At the same time, businesses also want to be equipped with tools to build a reasonable change roadmap, ensuring both effectiveness and creating consensus.

According to Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, the core principle of change management is understanding. Accordingly, leaders need to clearly state the reasons, goals, and values that the changes aim for, thereby quantifying the positive or negative impacts on team members and everyone's working methods. In addition, to ensure the effectiveness of change management, it is necessary to consider supporting resources; identify the most suitable people to help design and implement the change; need to attract the attention and support of members in the organization; visualize the success that the business desires.
The change plan must be implemented on schedule. Ensure that all members understand the meaning of the change and its direct impact on them; develop indicators to measure the success of the plan, regularly review and report on the results achieved. The implementation process needs to identify all key stakeholders and assess the level of importance in the plan. Specifically, it is necessary to appoint a representative, the first person to apply the proposed new plans and methods, from which to plan to help people change old habits and methods and apply new adjustments to ensure that everyone always receives support during the process of implementing the change. To do this, leaders and managers need to be equipped with strategic thinking, communication skills and the ability to lead change, in order to bring the enterprise firmly into the future.
Answering the question of creating consensus in change management, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung also emphasized that “effective communication is the key to creating consensus and support for change. It helps people understand the reasons, goals and impacts of change.”
Ms. Le Thi Hong Mai, Head of the Business Registration Office, Department of Finance, shared that the department is currently implementing many programs to support businesses. In particular, focusing on training programs to improve the capacity of businesses from basic to advanced, or according to specific topics. Along with that, the department also implements support for consulting on industrial designs, trademark protection; 1:1 consulting in the areas of business development; support for accessing preferential loans... Businesses can register to receive support policies through direct registration with the Business Registration Office, Business Association and related associations and clubs. |
