A glass of warm water with a little lemon is very good for diabetics.

Dr Singh says a glass of warm water with a squeeze of lemon is good for diabetics. Lemon is a source of vitamin C, fiber, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and has a low glycemic index that helps reduce blood sugar levels significantly. In addition, the nutrients in lemon help improve metabolism.

2. Cinnamon tea

Cinnamon may help lower blood sugar levels and fight diabetes by mimicking the effects of insulin and increasing the movement of sugar from the blood into cells. It also increases insulin sensitivity, making insulin more efficient at transporting sugar into cells.

3. Bitter melon juice

Bitter melon contains compounds that can help lower blood sugar levels. Drinking bitter melon juice in the morning can be especially effective, says Singh.

Research shows that drinking bitter melon juice can reduce blood sugar levels after 30 minutes.

4. Basil tea

Basil leaves may have anti-diabetic properties. One study found that basil leaves may reduce blood sugar and urine sugar levels. Basil may also reduce the risk of diabetic complications such as retinopathy and cataracts. Steep fresh basil leaves in a tea to help control blood sugar.

5. Green smoothie

You can use green vegetables like lettuce or spinach, along with protein powder to make a healthy smoothie. It can provide extra fiber and nutrients and keep you hydrated.

These drinks are more effective when taken on an empty stomach because there is no food to hinder absorption.

Dr Singh says that the body absorbs nutrients more efficiently on an empty stomach. However, it is best to consult your doctor before incorporating these into your daily diet. At the same time, diabetics should also avoid sugary drinks, alcohol, energy drinks, etc., according to Healthshots.
