According to the latest report from Nepalese authorities, the death toll from the earthquake that occurred on the evening of November 3 in the western mountainous region of the country has reached at least 157. Security forces quickly arrived at the scene, assisting rescue workers in searching for missing people in the rubble near the epicenter of the earthquake.
Jajarkot and Rukum are the two districts of Karnali province that suffered the most damage in this 5.6 magnitude earthquake, with the death toll recorded in these two localities being 105 and 52 people, respectively, said a spokesman for the Nepalese police agency.
In addition, the earthquake also injured more than 100 other people in the two districts above.
Security forces have been deployed both on land and in the air to assist in the search and rescue operation. However, rescue efforts have been hampered by the fact that many roads leading to the affected areas were destroyed in the earthquake.
