Ms. Huong affirmed that the recent work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic has given us many valuable lessons in directing and managing the socio-economy, especially for the work of caring for and protecting people's health in general and the work of preventing and fighting the epidemic in particular.

However, according to Ms. Huong, infectious diseases in the world are always complicated and unpredictable; there is a tendency to increase in frequency and the risk of infection with new variants and emerging diseases; endemic diseases such as dengue fever, hand, foot and mouth disease, and measles have increased significantly; the number of dengue fever cases has increased more than 10 times in the past 10 years with an estimated half of the world's population at risk of infection each year.

In 2023, the world continued to record cases and deaths from diseases transmitted from animals to humans and dangerous, emerging infectious diseases in many countries.

"Vietnam is located in a tropical monsoon climate zone, hot and humid, with lots of rain, and with the increasing demand for trade and tourism, the risk of facing the spread of many different types of diseases is very high," said Ms. Huong.

To prevent diseases early and from afar, to limit disease outbreaks and to proactively prepare to respond to future pandemics or disease emergencies, Ms. Huong said that the Ministry of Health will focus on organizing and implementing tasks and solutions under the direction of the Central Government, the National Assembly, the Government and the Prime Minister.

In particular, implementing Directive 25 of the Secretariat; Resolution 99 of the National Assembly and Resolution No. 218; at the same time, continuing to proactively promote global health security approach in disease prevention and control to inform and share experiences through bilateral and multilateral cooperation mechanisms on the basis of inter-sectoral and multi-sectoral coordination, demonstrating Vietnam's sense of responsibility, together with the international community in responding to the disease.
