Recognizing this urgent situation, Saudi Arabia has focused on environmental protection and committed to promoting the global fight against climate change.

In his speech, Mr. Mohammed Ismaeil Dahlwy shared about the country's current construction and application of a circular carbon economy, as well as talked about the Green Saudi Arabia Initiative, the Green Middle East Initiative, and introduced the construction of power transmission lines connecting with countries in the region and Europe and the mega project in the capital Riyadh, King Salman Park, to improve the quality of life in this city.

Ambassador Dahlwy said that, like Saudi Arabia, Vietnam faces risks from climate change with many environmental issues. He expressed his appreciation for Vietnam's determination and drastic actions in promoting environmental protection.

The campaign to plant 1 billion trees nationwide in the 2021-2025 period launched by the Vietnamese Government is similar to the plan to increase vegetation within the framework of the country's Green Saudi Arabia Initiative.

“Certainly, this campaign of Vietnam will make a great contribution to international efforts in solving climate change issues,” Mr. Mohammed Ismaeil Dahlwy emphasized.

The Saudi Arabian Ambassador said that the goals of cutting ocean plastic waste in half by 2025, then 75% by 2030, and achieving net zero emissions by 2050 demonstrate Vietnam's responsibility in addressing global environmental challenges.

He shared that, in addition to the commitments of the Government or other authorities, he has witnessed many efforts by Vietnamese people to raise awareness about pollution and improve the surrounding environment.

“In response to these actions, I really want to contribute to protecting the environment in Vietnam, especially in Hanoi, which has been and will continue to be my home in the coming years,” said Mr. Mohammed Ismaeil Dahlwy.

The Saudi Arabian Ambassador expressed surprise and impression at the ideas submitted to the contest. He hoped that the Vietnamese people, especially the youth, would continue that enthusiasm and spread more environmentally friendly lifestyles, ideas and initiatives.
