Lindström - a textile service company from Finland - opened its first service center in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai Province, implementing a workwear rental model based on the circular economy.
With a circular economy at its core, Lindström focuses on optimizing the product lifecycle in an efficient and resource-saving way. For a weekly rental fee, customers receive workwear along with laundry, storage, returns and delivery services.
“While the circular economy is at the heart of our offering, sustainability goes beyond that,” said Juha Laurio, CEO of Lindström.
According to him, the company aims for sustainable development by taking a comprehensive approach on all three aspects: environmental, social and economic. “By optimizing resources, we help customers save costs. By investing in employee welfare, we enhance the customer experience. And by providing uniforms that meet international standards, we support the growth of customers in the global market, while ensuring the health of workers and the surrounding community,” said Mr. Juha Laurio.
Commenting on Vietnam’s sustainable development goals, Mr. Juha Laurio said that Vietnam’s increasing focus on sustainable development creates favorable conditions for Lindström to access and invest in this market. “Vietnam’s green transition also helps us realize our emissions reduction goals,” Mr. Laurio said. “Many Vietnamese businesses have been and are aiming for similar climate goals as us, and we are committed to supporting them to achieve those goals through our services.”
Accordingly, Lindström commits to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 (compared to 2021 levels) and achieving net zero emissions by 2050, accompanying Vietnam in its long-term carbon neutrality strategy.
At the event, Ms. Saramaria Kalkku - Deputy Ambassador of Finland to Vietnam said that Vietnam and Finland share the ambitious goal of carbon neutrality and businesses will play a key role in realizing these goals. Businesses in Finland are widely recognized for promoting sustainable practices and actively reducing emissions.
“Lindström is driving this goal with solutions based on the circular economy and climate commitment. In addition to protecting the environment, Lindström also contributes to the development of businesses as well as building healthier working environments, by providing high-quality workwear that meets international standards for hygiene and safety,” said Saramaria Kalkku.
In addition to focusing on business activities, Lindström also expands its community initiatives. "To contribute to building a sustainable and prosperous community in Vietnam, we have cooperated with ActionAid Vietnam in the project 'Using clean water for a happy school'," said Mr. Juha Laurio.
The project aims to improve access to clean water and raise awareness about sanitation and climate change, directly supporting 5,000 children at 6 schools in Tra Vinh City - an area heavily affected by climate change and saltwater intrusion.
Ms. Hoang Phuong Thao - Chief Representative of ActionAid International in Vietnam said: "This cooperation project not only strengthens corporate social responsibility but also establishes a business model that can contribute positively to sustainable development in Vietnam. We encourage and support businesses to integrate ESG (environmental, social, governance) principles into their operations through specific projects, creating short-term and long-term changes towards a sustainable future for everyone".
