At Vinh Stadium, Song Lam Nghe An and Becamex Binh Duong put on a show that delighted the fans. Trailing behind, Song Lam Nghe An should have had an early chance to equalize after Jordy Soladio Kandolo was fouled by the opponent in the 53rd minute. Referee Tran Van Lap, despite being very close, still did not award the home team a penalty. Despite their efforts to attack in the final minutes, coach Nguyen Huy Hoang's team scored an equalizer, but the referee's decision almost robbed Song Lam Nghe An of their first win of the season.

More dramatically, referee Truong Hong Vu made the audience angry with his decision to award the home team Thep Xanh Nam Dinh a penalty at the end of the match, helping the home team Thien Truong Stadium escape empty-handed and causing the away team Khanh Hoa to miss out on victory.
Although the VFF Referee Board affirmed that referee Vu applied the correct rules and made the correct decision, the Khanh Hoa coaching board and fans disagreed with this assessment. They believed that both goals in the 1-1 draw came from incorrect decisions by the referee team, with the focus being on the poor management and professionalism of Mr. Truong Hong Vu.
Last season, V-League caused outrage because of the poor professionalism of the referees, forcing the organizers to spend money to invite international "black shirts" to officiate the decisive rounds of V-League 2022. It's not that international referees don't make mistakes in situations or make wrong judgments, but they certainly don't make professional mistakes as often as referees in V-League.
If refereeing skills cannot be improved through training courses, VFF and VPF should think about investing and soon bringing VAR technology into the V-League, bringing fairness to the teams and limiting controversies after dramatic matches.
