On the morning of June 13, the 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools in Thanh Hoa province for the 2024-2025 school year began with the Literature exam (120 minutes). This is one of the three subjects of the exam, along with Math and English. After the exam time, most candidates at the examination councils in the province left with a relaxed mindset.

As one of the candidates who left the Ham Rong High School Examination Council the earliest, candidate Nguyen Do Khanh Toan (Dien Bien Secondary School, Thanh Hoa City) shared: I found this year's Literature exam quite close to the students' abilities, many students could get 7.5 points or higher.

Candidate Le Nguyen Soi (Dong Cuong Secondary School, Thanh Hoa City) said: The structure of this year's exam is basically the same as previous years, including 2 parts: Reading comprehension and text creation. Basically, the exam is quite easy, close to the students' ability, so I did about 80%.

Candidate Nguyen Thanh Xuan (Dien Bien Secondary School, Thanh Hoa City) said: This year's exam was quite good, I did about 70%.

For reading comprehension: Good material, clear questions, no trickery.

The social discussion section discusses the meaning of knowing how to live for others, the issue of closeness and moving towards a humane and noble way of life.

The literary argument section, choosing a very touching excerpt from the work “Ivory Comb” by writer Nguyen Quang Sang (Literature 9, volume 1). This excerpt shows the changes in Thu’s feelings after she recognized Mr. Sau as her father, thereby praising the sacred, deep, and immortal father-child love in the difficult circumstances of war. The price of war is not only expensive and brutal when it happens, but its consequences are wounds that bleed for decades. The comments and connections about father-child love are also very close, not too difficult.

Overall, with this year's exam, there were no surprises. Most students felt very happy after finishing the exam, creating a comfortable mindset for the next subjects.

Specifically, the reading comprehension section is easy for students to think and answer, the structure is familiar, and the level is appropriate. Regarding the content, it ensures that it is suitable, the language is concise, although not difficult, it requires students to have solid knowledge right from the first sentence. After leaving the exam room, many students will have debates about the method of expression.

The social argumentation section is a matter of great concern to society in general and to students in particular. The exam questions do not require too much thinking and awareness of the age group, but they do require students to have solid arguments, think thoroughly, and have the necessary educational content.

In the literary essay section, in terms of content, the work in the curriculum “Ivory Comb” is a familiar work, easy to feel for students, especially the part about father-child relationship in life. However, to feel the character in the excerpt requires students to study very detailed, carefully, and delicately, in order to be able to call the thesis correctly and get high scores.
