Tuition support only for secondary school students

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just submitted a document to the City People's Committee on tuition support for the 2024-2025 school year for city students.

The report stated that considering the economic recovery and growth in 2024, the Department of Education and Training proposed that the City People's Committee approve the policy of developing a tuition support policy for the 2024-2025 school year. The subjects of application are public and non-public secondary school students and continuing secondary education students in the city. It does not apply to students studying at foreign-invested educational institutions.

Applicable period: 9 months of school year 2024 - 2025.

The funding source for tuition support is from the city budget. The expected support level is 100,000 VND/student/month for group 1 and 85,000 VND/student/month for group 2.

Group 1 is students at schools in Thu Duc city and districts: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan.

Group 2 is students studying in schools in Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio districts.

According to the department, the estimated budget for implementing the tuition support policy is 421 billion VND. Of which, the budget for exempting tuition fees for public school students is 399 billion VND, and for non-public school students is 22 billion VND.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, through summarizing and evaluating the implementation of the tuition support policy in the past 3 school years, the department found that this policy has always received support and consensus from the people and society. Tuition support is affirmed to be a unique and superior policy of the city.
