On April 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced a list of medical examination and treatment facilities with staff confirmed to be qualified to speak other languages ​​fluently or have enough qualifications to interpret in medical examination and treatment.

This list includes 90 medical facilities, including hospitals under the Ministry of Health, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, specialized clinics, general clinics, district hospitals, cosmetic hospitals...

Accordingly, the Department of Health is divided into three forms:

Form 1: Foreign doctors are practicing medicine at the unit (registered to practice with the management agency).

Form 2: Practitioners at recognized units are proficient in other languages ​​in medical examination and treatment.

Form 3: Practitioners at the unit have been recognized as qualified to interpret in medical examination and treatment.

According to the published list, medical facilities classified as forms 2 and 3 with English as the registration language include: Tu Du Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Odonto-Stomatology, Children's Hospital 2, Binh Dan Hospital, Eye Hospital, Trung Vuong Hospital, City Children's Hospital...

Medical examination and treatment facilities classified as type 1 include: Hoa Sen General Clinic (Japanese), Clinic 2 of Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute (English), Vietnam - France Hospital (English, French)...

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is promoting tourism services, including medical tourism. To do this well, the health sector needs to improve the quality of human resources.

In particular, foreign language proficiency is an important factor to easily approach foreign patients. In the near future, the medical industry will use English a lot.

However, experts also acknowledge that in Vietnam, medical staff have a large workload. Learning a specialized foreign language requires a real passion, and the willingness to reduce family and personal time to go to school.
